The purpose of this section is merely for fun. Enjoy!

16mm color (not "colorized") footage that you may not have seen of carrier action in the Pacific. Not many color shots in the '40's - extremely expensive then, with a complicated and exacting developing process.

The photography is in HD, the planes are gorgeous, and, most notably, it is shot as the B17 takes off from Mesa, AZ and then flies over the Superstition Mtns., Roosevelt & Canyon lakes on the east edge of the Phoenix valley. The backdrops are stunning. Music is from the mini series John Adams. Great combo. Press the icon between HD and Vimeo to get full screen. This is brought to you courtesy of CAPT Dolezal, RMNA member.

  • The Distinguished Flying Cross Society A good site of historic interest, as many of the recipients of the DFC served in the Navy, Marine and Coast Guard. It contains the wording of the actual citations submitted to the Society by those who received the citations or whose names were submitted posthumously. Thanks to RMNA member Larry Wear for suggesting that this important site be added to these links.

  • Blue Angel HD Video on YouTube Great perspective, with much of it filmed from the cockpit. You see the formation, then see it from the pilot or camera view. This was recorded over Cocoa Beach, FL. and El Centro, CA
  • P-51 Cockpit Enjoy this 360 Degree view of a P-51 cockpit, USE YOUR MOUSE TO SCAN AROUND THIS PLANE. You can scan around and see everything - even the missing bolt on the floor. Zoom in......zoom out..... move any direction with the mouse. This link is courtesy of RMNA member CAPT Bob Dolezal (Ret.)
